About Sexplosion

SEXPLOSION is a dynamic interactive radio program that airs in Power 102.1 Fm in Trinidad and Tobago every Wednesday from 10:00pm to 12:00 Mid Night and Fridays from 9:00pm to 12:00 Mid Night. This unique program explores all aspect of sex, sexuality and relationships. The program was the brainchild of Mr. Marcell Mahabir the then Manager of Radio Vision Limited.

Mr. Giriraj Ramnanan consultant and sex therapist was approached by Miss Melissa Sohun of the sales department to advertise on the new sex program. After some negotiation with Mr. Ramnanan; Miss Ingrid Isaac CEO of Radio Vision Limited offered Mr. Ramnanan the position of hosting a sex [program. Mr. Ramnanan came up with the name SEXPLOSION in March 2001 SEXPLOSION began airing. The program was aired and after many experimenting with date and time during the afternoon and evening the present days and time was settled upon.

SEXPLOSION is designed to provide accurate information dispelling all myths, old wives tales and false information one may have picked up during the formative years. The slogan to Educate, Inform and Entertain is perfectly adapted to this program. During the years of airing of this program Mr. Ramnanan attained his post doctoral degree in the area of Applied Health Studies with an emphasis in Sex, Gender and Sexuality. Dr. Ramnanan was now qualified as the country’s only Sexologist operating his successful clinic in St. Augustine, doing lectures throughout Trinidad and Tobago, the Caribbean and North America.

Over the years SEXPLOSION was part of the national surveys conducted by Market Facts and Opinion a biannual survey done to determine the popularity of all media programs. SEXPLOSION since its inception has maintained the highest listenership for all programs during the night. The popularity of SEXPLOSION is as a result of the wide based listenership that the show enjoys, this program has transcend all gender, sexuality, age, race, culture and religion. The fans of this program are the ones who have made it the most listened to program on radio. The continued support of the listeners is at present responsible for all transformation, development and positive changes within the program over the years, the success is one of the people. This program can truly be called the people’s program.

There are many celebrity guests whom have appeared on the program especially those in the porn industry. Also there are characters that are part of the program such as the angels and devils. Some of the co-hosts over the years were Sir Charles, Tom, Chris and Ruben, the present co host Junior Saldena have been partnering Dr. Ramnanan for the past five years, the repartee between these two borders on the comical and creates most of the entertainment on the program.

In Trinidad and Tobago anything and anyone that is important has to have  a calypso composed on them, when a Calypsonian  creates a calypso on you it means you have reached a level of acceptance, we are proud that M’ba a noted calysonian did a ditty not once but twice in 2002 and 2004. This has heralded the success of the program. Many have tried to emulate and copy the success of SEXPLOSION but they have all failed; like they say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.
